In the Orthodox Eastern Church the bishops of Constantinople, Alexandria,
Antioch, and Jerusalem are patriarchs, the Patriarch of Constantinople bearing
the style of Ecumenical Patriarch. Within a religious order the title is given
to the founder, as St. Benedict, St. Francis, and St. Dominic.
