Bruderhof — a Christian sect founded in Germany in
1920 with beliefs similar to the Mennonites. They came to Gloucestershire in
1937 when driven out by the Nazis, but to avoid internment in World War II left
for Paraguay in 1941. They re-established themselves in Sussex in 1971. There
are four other groups in the Eastern USA and they are linked with the Hutterian
Anabaptists in the Western USA and Canada. [BD]
